RAD Clubs 10-29

Hello Everyone,
I hope you all have had an amazing week, and have done a ton of service! I hope you are all getting excited for K-Family Service Day in just 2 short weeks. It will be a great time of being together with the entire K-Family and doing what we do best: SERVICE!! Also be sure to stick around for the social afterward to have some K-Family fun!

All of the club's this week have been pretty RAD, and therefore have made this decision pretty hard! With that said this weeks RAD clubs are as follows: Edgewood College, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), UW-Parkside, and Ripon College! All of these clubs have gone above and beyond in the last couple of weeks!!

Edgewood College have taken on a new fundraiser that not only will bring money to their club but also help women in the Philippines! Not only are they just taking on this fundraiser they also are now featured on the Circle K International website! Check it out at: http://slp.kiwanis.org/CircleK/home.aspx. They have also put together an awesome website to keep their club updated with what is going on not only within their club and school but also within the district! Want to see what their up to, here is their website link: http://edgewoodcirclek.weebly.com/index.html!

MSOE may be a small club but they have a mighty heart for service! At their last meeting they put together over 120 Halloween treat bags for the Ronald McDonald House, and a domestic abuse shelter. They stuffed them with all kinds of toys, trinkets, candy and chips for the kids to make their day a little brighter! They also have a lot of excitement and motivation to find some more members for their club and watch it grow so they can do even more service! Their excitement is for surely contagious.

UW-Parkside is beyond busy. They have a different social, service project, or K-Family event almost every day. I can't believe the amount dedication and excitement this club brings to Circle K! They also have helped so much in achieving the district goals! Not only this but they are always interested in getting together with other clubs within Wisconsin-Upper Michigan! Be sure to say hello to them at K-Family Service Day!

Ripon College is on the move this year that is for sure!! They have been doing amazing things starting with attending both 24 hour Service Project and Membership Awareness Conference, where they brought so much excitement and enthusiasm for service! Not only that but they have been a brainstorming machine when it comes to service projects they can do with their club! If that weren't enough they also love getting together with the Winnebago Division!!

Thank you to these clubs for always going above and beyond to get the job done, you are all for surely RAD Clubs!! Keep up the great work!

If you think your club is a RAD club just send me a short email explaining why, and who knows your club might be featured next! See you all at K-Family Service Day!

R.A.D. Club of the Week 10/15

Hello Everyone,
First I hope everyone has recovered since Membership Awareness Conference last week, and you are all getting back into the swing of things! I know I am definitely going through Circle K withdrawals after such an amazing weekend! This week was a very hard decision on which clubs to choose as the R.A.D. Clubs, you all have done such a fantastic job!!

After much pondering this weeks R.A.D. Clubs are: UW-Green Bay, UW-Oshkosh, Carthage College, UW-Whitewater, and Michigan Technological University! These clubs have gone above and beyond in one way or another this week, and deserve recognition for all of their hard work!! You may be asking yourself what did these clubs do to deserve being such a R.A.D. Club, well let me tell you!!

UW-Green Bay has grown there club in more ways then one. They had 10 people at Membership Awareness Conference, which is HUGE for UW-GB! It was great to see such a big turnout, with not just returning members either, there were a lot of new members from this club! Not only did they bring a ton of people to MAC, they also have between 3-5 service projects each week within their club for their members to attend. That is a lot of service being done!! They are also working on bettering their club by getting a service chair!! UW-GB is by far a very busy club and is definitely a R.A.D. Club!

UW-Oshkosh has also been doing some great things! They brought 23 people to MAC, and like GB they were not all returning members, they had a good mix of each!! They also put together an awesome creative song that related to Harry Potter for their skit! Not only have they been super duper active within the district but they are super active in their local K-Family! They go to their sponsoring Kiwanis Club meeting every week!! Last week they also went to a local Key Club to speak and then brought the Key Club president to their meeting to show her what Circle K was like!!! For their dedication to the K-Family they are for surely a R.A.D. Club this week!

Carthage College is becoming a more active club everyday! They brought 2 people with them to MAC, which is great for Carthage College, because I don't remember the last time they had 2 people at a District event. Not only that but their excitement about coming back to KFSD was contagious! They also shared some great fundraisers with other clubs while they were there, and really shared their knowledge of how they have become such a strong club with the other clubs. It was great to see them care about their fellow clubs! For their caring, support, and dedication this week they are a R.A.D. Club!!

UW-Whitewater is not only a super active club but they also know how to utilize their resources. They had 10 people at MAC that were super enthusiastic about being there. Not only did they have people at MAC though they also utilized MAC to help them achieve greatness during their homecoming festivities by asking other clubs to help them out by bringing games! They also have planned a super awesome corn maze for their club and was gracious enough to invite all of the clubs in the district to it!! The excitement about this event is over the top and they have done an awesome job of bringing the district together, and for this, this week they are a R.A.D. Club!

Michigan Technological University I don't know if you guys know but it is like 6-7 hours from where MAC is held, and yet this club managed to bring 8 people with them. That is absolutely amazing seeing as far as they had to travel to get there!! They also have a ton of Halloween service projects coming up where they will be helping out their area children!! It is great to see such a dedicated club to the district and to service, and for this they are a R.A.D. Club!!

Thank you to all of the clubs for their hard work this past month, and especially thanks to those clubs that did attend MAC!! It was super successful and I hope you all had as much fun as I did!! I can't wait to see everyone at K-Family Service Day in Green Bay! I challenge every club to bring at least 1 person, then we can say we had 100% attendance from the WUM Clubs which may be a first!!! I hope you all have a great weekend!!

Outstanding Clubs of the Week

Hello Everyone,
I have seen nothing but good things come out of everyone's clubs!! I have been so impressed with all of you that i thought we should start a new recognition program so that all of the wonderful things your clubs have been doing can be seen!! So every Friday I will be dedicating my blog to the five clubs that have either put on a great event, showed improvement, or shows something that makes them deserving of being featured as a R.A.D. (Radically Amazing Dedicated) Club! So without further ado let's take a look at which clubs are featured as this weeks R.A.D. Clubs and what they did to deserve it:

Alverno College
Alverno has done amazing things this past week!! First off they had 2 people attend Key Leader, a leadership conference held in Camp Wawbeek, last weekend! When they couldn't find a way to get the amount of people they wanted to come to MAC to MAC they took matters into their own hands, and rented a bus!! Then not only did they just rent a bus to get themselves down to MAC, but they shared their ride with the rest of the Metro Division!! So be sure to look out for the big bus with all of them on it!! Thanks for being such a R.A.D. Club!!

UW-Eau Claire
UW-Eau Claire has taken the word recruiting to a whole new level!! With only about 3 meetings under their belt they already have 144 members!! These are some dedicated members to as they have 42 of those members come to MAC next weekend!! So if you need some recruitment techniques get in contact with UW-Eau Claire!! Thanks Eau Claire for being a R.A.D. Club this week!

Northern Michigan University
Some of you may have attended Northern Michigan Universtity's awesome 24 Hour Service Project a few weekends ago!! If you went then you know how awesome and fun this event was! If you didn't then let me tell you they planned service for about 45 of us helping the Salvation Army, Marquette Children Museum, and cleaning up beaches!! All of that service will definitely help us reach our district service goal of 12,000 hours!! Keep up being such a R.A.D. Club!!!

UW-Milwaukee
Some of you may be asking yourself UW-Milwaukee where did they come from?? Well that is exactly what makes them a R.A.D. Club this month!! After just one meeting they are definitely making a name for themselves!! They started their club with no members and had 14 people at their last meeting, and are bringing 4 people with them to MAC!! This is a huge accomplishment, and we are super excited to have UWM back with us!! Thanks UWM for being such a R.A.D. Club!! Keep up the great work!

UW-Madison
UW-Madison is full of recruitment also! They had a super successful org fair where they got 186 people to sign up, which is amazing for how many different organizations they are competing with on their campus! Also even though MAC is during their homecoming and they are still setting aside some time to come for a few hours!! Thanks for being a R.A.D. Club and keep up the great dedication!

Be sure to stop back next week to see if your club is featured as a R.A.D. Club!!! If you think your club is doing something that makes them a R.A.D. Club just shoot me an email with why you think your club deserves it!! Hope you all have a great weekend and I will see tons of you next weekend at MAC!!

Hi Ho Hi Ho It's back to school we go!

Hello Wonderful WUMers
As we make our way back to school in the upcoming weeks, or in the last weeks it also means it is time to get back into full swing with Circle K stuff!! I hope you are all ready to recruit, recruit, recruit!! This is the most important time of the year when it comes to recruiting new members, and showing people the excitement of being in Circle K!! With your excitement and help in this new year we are sure to reach our district goal of 500 members!!

Here are a few helpful hints to keep in mind as you try to snag in those new members!!

1. Send a personalized email to each person that signs up at your org fair inviting them to your first meeting, and then again for your first service project. After all they had to have signed up because they enjoy doing service! If you can get them to come to a service project you will probably have them hooked!

2. Have at least one service project already scheduled for the first week of school! The sooner you have a service project that new members can attend the less time they have to forget about what Circle K is! Also the sooner you get a service project going the less time they will have to get hooked on a different organization!

3. Have a few returning members on a welcome committee! This does not mean stand at the door and greet people, this simply means that these people will sit next to new members and make sure that every new face that comes through the door gets talked to, asked their name, major, hometown, just small talk. Maybe even ask them what they like to do for service!! This will make every person that comes through the door feels welcomed and included!

4. Play music as people come into your meeting! Have the first 5 or so minutes be pure socializing time, play music to lighten the mood and get people talking and having fun! Then once you start your meeting they will already be talking and ready to go!

5. Have a fun icebreaker to start your meeting off after you play music for the first 5 minutes! The first 12 minutes are the most important, new members will decide in those first 12 minutes whether they want to come back or not! So whether you have an icebreaker or a fun service project in the beginning, you should plan on doing something fun that will hold their attention!

I hope these tips and tricks will for surely help you hook not only those new members but also the returning members! If you have any questions or if the district board can help you in any way please let me know! I wish you the best of luck in this recruitment season, and getting off on the right foot with school!!
